The Westlake Magnet Program
is
Evolving

The Westlake Magnet Program and application process are currently being evaluated and refined to better serve our community and to align with recent district-wide policy updates for Fulton County Schools’ Special Programs. As we work to enhance our programmatic offerings, we encourage interested families to review the Fulton County Schools’ Change of School Assignment information provided below.

Thank you for your interest and understanding as we make these adjustments to support our students’ success.

New FCS Policy changes the application process for families of students not zoned for Westlake High School

For many years, Fulton County Schools has provided options for students to attend a school different than the one zoned for their home.  During the 2023-2024 school year, the Fulton County Board of Education examined Policy JBCD and adopted several changes that streamline the application process while providing additional flexibility for parents and district employees. The revised timeline also incorporates the application process for schools offering special programs. Policy changes went into effect August 2024.  Students wishing to participate in a special program within a school must follow the student transfer application process first to ensure they may attend the selected school. Transfer approvals do not guarantee admission into the school's program; this is a separate application process.  The Change of School Assignment (COSA) application window opens on December 9, 2024, and closes on January 15, 2025.

Please note that Westlake High School is not included as an option in the COSA application for the 2025-2026 school year and the Westlake Magnet Application will not be available to families residing outside of the Westlake attendance zone.  Thank you for your understanding, and we encourage families to explore the opportunities available within their zoned schools.

The Application Process

During the Spring semester, we will share information about our special programs' application processes and timelines with families of students who will attend Westlake High School and are eligible to apply to one of our programs in the Spring.

Thank you for your patience and interest in our program.
